Sports Technology Institute
The Sports Technology Institute is a £15M facility housing the Sports Technology Research Group, whose mission is to have a positive global, social and economic impact on sport through excellent engineering research, teaching and enterprise. It is home to globally recognised undergraduate and research degree programmes in Sports Technology which attract students from all over the world.
The Sports Technology Research Group is world leading and the largest in the UK, with expertise in the engineering of sports goods including design, simulation, testing and manufacture. The Group has built an international reputation for its work with global brands including adidas, Ping Golf, Canterbury of New Zealand, Dunlop, Head, New Balance, Nike, Reebok, Slazenger, Spalding, Speedo and Umbro.
The Group comprises academics, research associates, PhD students and technicians conducting engineering research in areas such as athletic footwear, technical apparel, protective equipment, balls, bats, clubs, rackets and sports surfaces. Their track record of design-led innovation and accelerating novel concepts from initial stages through to commercialisation is unparalleled.
National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine
The National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) is an Olympic legacy project delivering education, research and clinical services in sport, exercise and physical activity. It aims to apply world-class expertise to policies and practice that will benefit the health and wellbeing of the nation – from everyday people at risk of ill health through to elite athletes.
The NCSEM has hubs in the East Midlands, London and Sheffield.
A newly built, dedicated space houses the East Midlands hub at Loughborough University. The building has been specifically designed to bring together the capabilities of the partner universities and NHS trusts to facilitate the translation of research into education, training and clinical services.

Institute for Sport Business
Based on the London campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the Institute for Sport Business incorporates an internationally-recognised faculty of academics with research and teaching expertise in the business of sport.
The Institute seeks to deliver world-leading research with a real world impact in an era of significant social, economic and technological change.
The Institute for Sport Business offers four MSc degrees (Sport Analytics and Technologies, Sport Business and Innovation, Sport Business and Leadership, and Sport Marketing) as well as MPhil and PhD degrees.
Our master's degrees incorporate teaching from a broad range of experts in the sport business industry in order to empower students with the knowledge and abilities needed to operate across the commercial, not-for-profit and public sport business sectors.
Our MPhil and PhD students are part of a talented research community who have opportunities to engage in global research projects focused on sport consumer engagement, sport enterprise performance and sport social innovation.
