Jane Harrington

Jane was in the first cohort of women to attend what was then Loughborough College of Education, and she studied primary education and drama. Subsequently she taught in primary schools in Notts, Leics, Bucks, and Harrow.

In the 1970’s she was very well known in the Midlands for singing leads in various operatic productions, and later, solos in choirs. In the 1990’s she was briefly Mayor of Calne in Wiltshire.

She is survived by Tony, her first husband, George, her second husband (formerly producer of BBC Farming Today), her three remaining children, and her four step children. Her eldest son, Michael, pre-deceased her.
