Alumnus receives President’s Gift

Duncan Froggatt receiving his award

Last month alumnus Duncan Froggatt was awarded the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) President’s Gift 2024. He was awarded by Professor Anusha Shah, President 159 of ICE.

The awards are given to recognise outstanding commitment and contributions to ICE. Duncan was one of four recipients for this year.

The citation from the organisation read:

“Duncan Froggatt has delivered walking talks for ICE around Sheffield since 2018 since the publication of his book, Sheffield – A Civilised Place. In 2023, with increasing mobility issues, Duncan has created an audio guide in collaboration with BBC Radio Sheffield and the Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind. We would like to thank Duncan for his considerable role in championing civil engineering’s impact on society.”

Duncan graduated from the University in 1984 with a BSc in Civil Engineering and has been playing a vital role in the engineering community ever since.

Duncan wasn’t able to attend the awards ceremony, but he was presented with the award by Bryan Penny, ICE Yorkshire and Humber Regional Chair, in Sheffield.

Congratulations Duncan.
