On Wednesday 25 September, Alex Backhouse will begin his run from Land’s End to London in support of Retina UK. He will run a total of 700 km over 12 days.

The challenge holds significance for Alex because three generations of his family have been impacted by retinitis pigmentosa. This is a genetic disorder that leads to progressive vision loss.

Alex is committed to raising funds and awareness for this cause. The endurance and determination required for this challenge reflect the values he honed during his time at Loughborough.

He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2016. To find out more, you can follow Alex’s Instagram account or visit his JustGiving page
