Loughborough graduates celebrated in the King’s New Year Honours 2026
The Loughborough alumni community is well represented in the 2026 New Year Honours list. Ten people have been recognised for their achievements across sport, public service and science and research. Their achievements highlight the exceptional contributions that the Loughborough family is making nationally and internationally.

Geography and Environment alumni recognised for excellence

Congratulations to our alumni, Shunhao Jia (M.S.c Sport Management 2013) and Virginia Zhang (M.Sc. Virtual Product Design 2009) who have been recognised at the Study UK Alumni Awards in China.

Alumnus designs #PatchTheSlash campaign
Dan Hatfield has been recognised for his powerful campaign, #PatchTheSlash, developed during his second year at Loughborough. The campaign won first prize in a competition organised by design teacher, Helen Nowell, in response to the 2023 Nottingham attacks.

Alumnus awarded Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society
Tony Buttler (MA Information and Library Studies 1995) joined the Royal Aeronautical Society when he was employed as a metallurgist by High Duty Alloys, known as Mettis Aerospace. Now, he has been named a Fellow of the Society.

Vipul Londhe (Sport Marketing 2023) has been recognised in the International Sports Convention (ISC) 30 Under Thirty Awards for his work and contribution to the sports industry. He has worked with agencies and rights holders in commercial roles across partnerships, activations, sales and marketing in Europe and APAC.
