Loughborough University Apprenticeship Sub-contracting

Loughborough University maintains a strategic approach to subcontracting that prioritises the quality and depth of our apprenticeship provision. We enter into subcontracting agreements exclusively when such arrangements provide clear added value to the learner’s experience and ensure comprehensive delivery of the apprenticeship standard.

All subcontracting operations are conducted in strict accordance with the Department for Education (DfE) apprenticeship funding rules and the associated DfE Subcontracting Standard. These regulations ensure that our partnerships remain transparent, high-quality, and focused on the best interests of the apprentice and the employer.

Our Subcontracting Provision: Functional Skills

At Loughborough University, the only element of our apprenticeship delivery that is currently subcontracted is the provision of Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Mathematics.

We have established a formal partnership with Runway Training, who possess the specialist expertise and dedicated resources required to deliver this essential training and assessment. This partnership ensures an enhanced experience for apprentices who require these qualifications to meet the mandatory DfE gateway requirements. Loughborough University remains fully accountable for the quality of this provision and is committed to supporting our apprentices through this collaborative delivery model.
