Non-STEM pathway

Although your course is not in science or engineering you will still use quite a lot of maths: statistical analyses are used in most subjects, psychology students for instance will use equations and graphs, design students will need to calculate angles and areas and geography students will use formulas in many areas. It is important that you feel comfortable with all of these, so some practice and revision of what you already know will enable you to concentrate on the new concepts you will meet.

The activities for your first week of the Ready Set Loughborough maths badge will be posted here on Monday 23 August.

Activities for the following weeks will always be posted at the start of each week.

How the badge works

There are 6 blocks of materials, designed to be completed as one block per week. Each week there will be some starter questions which you should try. The topics will not all be visible and will be released on the Monday of each week, giving you time to work through each one before you move on.
If you were confident answering the questions, and you got them right then you are done for the week. If you do not feel confident, then carefully go through the explanations and exercises in the HELM workbooks provided, using the link to the interactive HELM questions for extra practice. There are also additional resources and videos available. After finishing the six weeks, you will have a good understanding of the maths you will study in your degree!
