IAS Friends and Fellows Coffee Morning

About this event

On Tuesday 13 August we will be hosting an IAS Friends and Fellows Coffee Morning, where we will be joined by IAS Visiting Fellows Professor Mariana Araujo Lamego, Professor André Reyes Novaes & Professor Ye Zhou.

Please feel free to book using the button below, to come along and join us for an informal in-person gathering at International House with coffee and cakes to meet our Fellows, all are welcome.

Mariana Araujo Lamego is Associate Professor in the Department of Human Geography and the Postgraduate Program in Geography at the Institute of Geography of the State University of Rio de Janeiro. She graduated in Geography from the State University of Rio de Janeiro with an undergraduate degree (2004) and a master’s degree (2006) and was awarded her PhD in Geography at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2010).

André Reyes Novaes is Associate Professor at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He received his PhD from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and was an academic visitor at Royal Holloway, University of London (2009), and at the University of Nottingham (2012). In 2020, he was appointed an Honorary Research Associate in the Department of Geography at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Professor Ye Zhou is a Distinguished Professor in the Institute for Advanced Study, Shenzhen University, China. He was elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) in 2021, Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP) and Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (FIET) in 2022.

In her new book Acts of Creation: On Art and Motherhood, art critic Hettie Judah shows that motherhood has played a significant role in the history of art. Not only in the ways that both motherhood and mothering have been depicted, but also in the way that artists who are mothers have created representations of their experiences, and in doing so shaped their artistic identities.

Essential maintenance: University network and datacentre downtime – Wednesday 24 July

On the morning of Wednesday 24 July between 8am-9.30 am, IT Services will be carrying out essential maintenance to replace a critical piece of networking hardware. This will require downtime to the eduroam Wi-Fi and wired network and most key services.
