My Pride Podcast

As part of our celebrations throughout Pride month, the LGBT+ staff network has produced the ‘My Pride’ podcast series. Hosted by Dr Chris McLeod, this mini-series considers the meaning of Pride month to different groups, its history and changing future, as well as its place within the world of sport.

David Wilson (Trans & Non-Binary lead for the LGBT+ Staff Network) and Professor Liz Peel (Professor of Communication & Social Interaction) join Chris to discuss their experiences of Pride, and its changing role and purpose.

Lauren Heria (Equal Kicks CEO & Lboro London alumni) discusses her experiences as a footballer and how the women’s football community helped provide her with a safe space to be her true self. 

Episode #3 - ‘Men’s Football: Do I Belong Here?’ 

Jack Elderton and Lorna Severn, representatives from Pride of Irons (The Official West Ham United LGBTQIA+ supporters' group) join Chris to consider the inclusivity of men’s football for the LGBTQIA+ community. They discuss how their work within the Pride of Irons is supporting LGBTQIA+ fans to feel welcomed and included in what is often a challenging space.
