New Employee Assistance Programme provider now available to University staff members

The University is pleased to announce it has partnered with a new Employee Assistance Programme provider to help staff members receive guidance and advice for both their personal and professional lives.

Health Assured is an independent and confidential service led by experts and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, both online and over the phone. It already provides compassionate care and support for a wide range of issues to more than ten million individuals across 50,000 organisations.

This service will complement the University’s Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services, staff counselling and health and wellbeing provision within the People Strategy.

Heath Assured offers not only reactive support when someone needs it, but also proactive and preventative support to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Their Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides resources and unlimited support to help you tackle the physical, mental, financial and social challenges in your life. Not only is it available for you to use, but immediate family members* can also access the service. A full list of these services can be found here.

The EAP website contains an extensive library of videos, guides, planners, podcasts, calculators, mini health checks and much more for you to access at a time to suit you. In addition, staff can download the free Health e-Hub app onto their smartphone or device, offering access to wellbeing support and guidance no matter where you are.

Users can access a range of counselling options over the phone and online, the latter offering specialist support options for those who have experienced trauma or feel that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) may be beneficial to them.

Below is a comprehensive (but not exhaustive) list of the different areas Health Assured can support you with:

  • Life support: Financial and legal advice, family matters, childcare support and concerns about coronavirus
  • Work life: Equal pay, retirement, time management, managing change or stress in the workplace
  • Physical health: Eating well, exercise, smoking, sleep and alcohol
  • Emotional health: Anxiety, bereavement, depression, stress, eating disorders, addiction and mindfulness
