The new format will no longer include the student's department initials or the initials of their name. Instead, new incoming students will have a randomly assigned username consisting of two letters followed by four or more digits.

This modification aids the University's EDI objectives whilst also enhancing the security/data protection of users' accounts.

Current students will not be affected by this change. Their usernames will remain unchanged.
