Invitation from the Vice-Chancellor: play in our Community Cricket event, 6 September from 1pm

The Vice-Chancellor, with the Bishop of Loughborough, is hosting a Community Cricket event at the University on Friday 6 September.

They are looking for participants to join their respective teams and are delighted to open this invitation to all University staff. If you are interested in participating in the game, please register your interest via the online form by close of play on Wednesday 28 August. Kit can be provided where required.

During the afternoon, players will have the opportunity to take part in a special skills session led by current students Nat Bowley and Gemma Marriott, who were both recently part of both our Men’s and Women’s UCCE Squads.  Players will then play a 20/20 format friendly game at the National Cricket Performance Centre for the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

This event will be a great opportunity to bring together our community and others from across the local area to enjoy a Friday afternoon game, some afternoon tea, rounded off with a celebratory reception to congratulate the winning team.

Spectators are also very welcome on the day. Play will start at 2.30pm.

For everyone who would like to join the day and cheer the teams on, LU Arts are arranging some activities and performances, so please do encourage your family and colleagues to come along and join in. There will also be pop-up catering outlets available during the game.
