A range of professionals in the Sports, Exercise and Health industry gave talks on a wide array of topics including nutrition, sports media, strength and conditioning, sport development in National Governing Bodies (NGBs), sports science and performance support, sports psychology, and more. The presentations aimed to develop students’ employability skills and knowledge and provide them with career insight and advice.

Some issues that were discussed during the presentations included the apparency of ‘the Loughborough advantage’ and building a network whilst at university, being comfortable with the choices you make in your career, developing self-awareness of your skills and embracing challenges within your working life.

In between presentations, various employers held stalls in the James France Exhibition Area to discuss career opportunities with students. Employers promoted a range of opportunities including internships, placements, graduate roles, and vacation opportunities, with companies such as Adidas, Gymshark, Kukri, Decathlon UK and BLK BOX present at the event. Many Loughborough University alumni were present at the event, returning to give current students an insight into their experiences of working in the industry.

A student from the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences who attended the event commented: “It was a really insightful and inspiring afternoon full of useful information and guidance with a variety of career related talks.” Over 400 students attended Talk Sport, with many gaining valuable knowledge about the sport industry and progressing their careers.
