Essential maintenance: University network and datacentre downtime – Wednesday 24 July

On the morning of Wednesday 24 July between 8am-9.30 am, IT Services will be carrying out essential maintenance to replace a critical piece of networking hardware. This will require downtime to the eduroam Wi-Fi and wired network and most key services.

How does this affect me?

Between 8am-9.30am, users on both the Loughborough and London campuses will experience a loss of access to the network connectivity and most University online services, including VPN connectivity for users off-campus.

Services will be available from 9.30am, however they will be considered at risk until 11.30am.

The timing of the work has been planned to ensure that we have the support of our external maintenance suppliers and that it is the best fit for the University.

To prevent equipment failure and prolonged unplanned outages, it is important to perform this essential maintenance.

Where can I get more information?

Service status updates are available on the IT Service Availability page, with guidance on other ways to connect during a network outage.

If you have any queries, please contact the IT Service Desk at IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk.
