Loughborough University campus awarded Green Flag award for seventh consecutive year

Loughborough’s East Midlands campus has been named a 2024 UK Green Flag Award recipient, celebrating its seventh year achieving this Award.

The accreditation is an international quality mark for parks and green spaces and recognises the hard work and dedication of the team that care for the green space so that staff, students, and visitors can enjoy it.

Keep Britain Tidy’s Green Flag Award Scheme Manager, Paul Todd MBE, said: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved at the Loughborough University campus on achieving a Green Flag Award. We know that staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that Loughborough campus maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award, everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement.”

Kaz Setchell, Gardens Manager at the University, commented: “It's always heartwarming to appreciate the beauty of our green campus at Loughborough, and the diverse natural spaces it offers – from woodlands to orchards and many high-profile areas where staff, students, and visitors can unwind and appreciate nature.

“The size of the campus demands a lot of maintenance, and the Gardens team truly deserves tremendous credit for all the hard work they do to maintain the grounds for our students, staff, and thousands of visitors each year. It's truly wonderful to receive official recognition yet again, which shows what an exceptional campus Loughborough provides for living, working, and studying.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
