The panel will talk about how rapidly changing government policies, funding, questions of value for money, and increased internationalisation have damaged the sector, to a point where universities are making difficult decisions and, in some cases, fighting to survive.
However, a new government marks an opportunity to change the narrative and push the sector further up the agenda, and this session will look at how we work together to do better and build back understanding of why universities exist and must continue to do so.
Professor Jennings will be joined on the panel by the following experts:
- Phil Baty (Chair), Chief Global Affairs Officer for Times Higher Education
- Vivienne Stern MBE, Chief Executive of Universities UK
- Professor Lisa Roberts, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Exeter
- Professor Nishan Canagarajah, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Leicester
The event will take place online from 9.30am-10.30am on Friday 26 July.
