Get involved in DigiLabs by joining a new Special Interest Group

The DigiLabs project will enable our students to develop the skills and knowledge to become future fit for the world of work where digital skills, data analytics, virtual and augmented reality play a key part, and ensure they can benefit from artificial intelligence and machine learning to support future technologies.

There are four DigiLabs – focusing on Extended Reality Learning; 3D Data Capture and Visualisation; Robotics; and Simulation, Modelling and Artificial Intelligence – supported through three DigiHubs. The first two DigiHubs in West Park Teaching Hub (DigiHub West) and the Leonard Dixon Theatre in Martin Hall (DigiHub East) are due to be up and running in Autumn 2024, the third DigiHub in the Central Park area of campus (DigiHub Central), is due to be ready in late 2025.

To support the next phase of the implementation of DigiLabs across the University we are introducing eight new Special Interest Groups.

These groups will provide an opportunity for all staff to get involved in the project develop understanding and increase knowledge of the technologies that have been introduced as part of the DigiLabs, including both hardware and software. They will be used as a vehicle for people to share best practice, showcase successful implementation and explore how the technologies can be used to enhance learning and teaching across the University.

To find out more about each of the Special Interest Groups and to register your interest please complete this short form by 5pm, Friday 19 July.

We will contact everyone who registers their interest in a Special Interest Group before the end of July before making arrangements to get the groups together for an introductory session. It is envisaged that the first session will introduce and explore the technology and provide an opportunity to discuss its uses in learning and teaching with colleagues from across the University.
