Availability of Turing funding for students working, studying or volunteering overseas

Loughborough University still has remaining Turing funds for the current academic year, ending 31 August 2024.

The Turing Scheme is the UK Government’s global funding programme for students in Higher Education that are studying or working abroad. Funding may be available to support students currently undertaking overseas work placements/internships, voluntary activity, and study abroad. This can be as part of your programme at Loughborough University, or activity you have arranged independently for the summer vacation.

Funding takes the form of cost-of-living grants, with additional funding potentially available to support under-represented participants with travel costs, and for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. If you are graduating in July 2024, you may also be eligible for funding.

UK and International students are eligible to apply but the University does not expect to fund activity taking place in students’ home countries during the summer vacation. The overseas activity must last for a minimum of 28 days between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024.

If you are undertaking an exchange or work placement in the 2024/25 academic year, you should wait for an announcement about Turing funding for 2024/25; it is not possible to fund a single activity from both 2023/24 and 2024/25 funds.

If you would like more information or details of how to apply, please contact the Placements, Exchanges & Governance Team via exchanges@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Further information, including the definition of ‘under-represented’ participants, can be found on the Loughborough University website.
