How to check-in to your teaching sessions

Engaging in your academic studies is crucial to your success here at university.

Teaching sessions at Loughborough give you the opportunity to meet with your peers in a safe and friendly learning community, hear from experts in your field, as well as gain all the relevant resources and information you need for your coursework and assessments.

We want to ensure that you receive the right support and guidance when you need it, which is one of the key reasons why we ask you to use Attendance Check-in at all of your in-person classes.

You can check-in to each of your classes using the myLboro app. Read our instructions below to find out what you need to do to check-in:

  1. If you haven’t already, download the myLboro app from the Apple or Android app store and log in with your University account.
  2. Make sure your mobile device has ‘Location Services’ enabled (we recommend setting this to ‘only when in use’)
  3. Open the myLboro app
  4. Tap on the ‘Attendance Check-in’ tile
  5. Find your current class (if this isn’t listed immediately, tap refresh and wait for it to load)
  6. Tap ‘Check-in’ and then ‘Finish’. If you were in the correct location during the time when your class was taking place, then your check-in should be successful.

Your attendance can be recorded up to five minutes before the scheduled session starts, and you’ll receive notifications 15 minutes and 5 minutes in advance of your class starting. If your check-in attempt is unsuccessful, there might be a few reasons why; check out our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for additional guidance.

Checking in is your way of letting us know that you’re engaging with your studies, and if we notice that you haven’t done so, we’ll likely get in touch to check on your wellbeing and to see if you need some support.

We’re also legally obliged to let UKVI (if you’re in receipt of a Tier 4/Student Visa) and Student Loans Company (if you’re in receipt of student finance) know if you’re not meeting attendance requirements, so it’s really important that you keep us up to date by checking in.
