Professor Will Seal

We are very sad to inform you that Emeritus Professor Will Seal, has died.

Professor Will Seal worked at the Loughborough Business School from 2005-2011 and again between 2014-2019, after which he retired.

His research projects and publications focused on developments in management accounting including, but not limited to, inter-firm supply chains, shared service centres, lean operations and competitive tendering and budgeting in local government. Professor Seal was gifted in applying theoretical frameworks to case-based qualitative data to provide novel insights to complex organisational settings and scenarios. In 2018, he utilised performativity and Cultural Political Economy theory to show how the discounted cash flow model of investment appraisal is used to mediate negotiations between actors in the regulated electricity industry.

Professor Seal enjoyed teaching and was proud of his co-authored text 'Management Accounting' with Professors Garrison, Noreen and Rohde. The text is now in its sixth edition and is used as a core text on many undergraduate business and management programmes at European Universities.

Our sincere condolences go to Professor Seal’s family. We know many colleagues on campus knew Will and our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
