Jo Maher named new Executive Sponsor for the Disability and Inclusion Network

The Disability and Inclusion Network is delighted to welcome Jo Maher, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sport, as its new Executive Sponsor.

Jo brings strong leadership experience, lived experience, and a passionate commitment to supporting inclusive practice across the University. In this sponsorship role, Jo will work alongside the Network to amplify its voice, champion key priorities, and help drive forward positive change for staff with disabilities and their carers at the University.

Reflecting on her new role, Jo said: “I’m passionate about supporting the Network’s ambitions and helping to amplify its work across the University. The dedication and insight of the Network’s members are vital to shaping our inclusive campus, and I’m looking forward to contributing to this important work.”

Chair of the Disability and Inclusion Network, Luliana Hartescu, welcomed Jo’s involvement: “We are delighted to have Jo as our new Executive Sponsor. Jo’s commitment to inclusion and their understanding of the challenges faced by disabled members of our community, and their carers, will be invaluable, as we continue to develop our work and strengthen our impact across the University.”

The Network would also like to extend sincere thanks to Mark Lewis, who has recently stepped down as Executive Sponsor. Mark’s guidance, advocacy, and longstanding support for the Network have been greatly appreciated.

The Disability and Inclusion Network provides a space for staff with disabilities and their carers to share experiences, influence policy, and work together to enhance accessibility and inclusion across campus. Jo’s sponsorship marks an important step in continuing to raise its profile and strategic influence.
