Route
Your route details the expected pattern of study for your programme. Here at Loughborough, for Undergraduate programmes each year of study is called a Part. Parts are studied sequentially as determined by the programme regulations for your programme of study. The list of possible routes is displayed below:
- ABC – Three year Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree (e.g. BSc/BA/BEng). Assuming successful progression, you would study Part A (year 1), Part B (year 2) and finally Part C (year 3).
- ABIC – Four year Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree with placement (e.g. BSc/BA/BEng). This is the same as the three year programme above with a placement year out (Part I) between Part B (year 2) and C (year 4).
- AIBC - Four year Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree with placement (e.g. BSc/BA/BEng). This is a 'thin sandwich' with the second year (Part I) and third year (Part B) each consisting of six months attendance at the University and six months in industry.
- ABCD – Four year Undergraduate Master’s degree (e.g. MEng/MSci/MComp/MMath). Assuming successful progression, you would study Part A (year 1), Part B (year 2), Part C (year 3) and finally Part D (year 4).
- ABICD - Five year Undergraduate Master’s degree (e.g. MEng/MSci/MComp/MMath) with a placement. This is the same as the four year programme above with a placement year out (Part I) between Part B (year 2) and C (year 4). You would then complete an additional year (Part D) upon completion of Part C.
- ABCID - Five year Undergraduate Master’s degree (e.g. MEng/MSci/MComp/MMath) with a placement. As above but with the placement in year 4 between parts C and D.
- F – Science and Engineering Foundation student. If you entered on a Science and Engineering foundation year programme you will be on part F for your first year. When you continue to your full programme of study your part F will be transferred to the new programme (e.g. FABC, FAIC, FABICD etc.)
