A Research Assistant or a Research Associate is a researcher employed, often on a temporary contract, by the University, for the purpose of assisting in academic research on a  specific project.  This is separate from your registration as a research student and if you are employed as a Research Assistant or Research Associate you will have a separate staff contract through Human Resources.
