Over the last decade, my ‘look’ has been consistent. But underneath, one major change has happened – my enjoyment of LGBT+ spaces. At 18, I found it hard to fit into LGBT+ culture – it wasn’t the space, I just wasn’t ready for it. But at 26, I finally became comfortable with being gay within LGBT+ spaces and culture, all because of our Loughborough LGBT+ community. No matter who you are or how you dress, our community is truly accepting. Be kind to those sharing the space and journeying alongside you and all that energy will be given to you too. My experience here will better my life forever. This is why I give my all to being LGBT+ Officer, because I have been given so much by the community that I am compelled to give back. What we have here is so special and I am indebted to everyone forever.
