Service Workshops
ALSS will be running two workshops. You can come along to just one or both. Registering for both the morning and the afternoon session is encouraged. Drinks and Easter treats will be served at approximately 12pm. If you are coming for the whole day, don’t forget to bring your lunch!
Morning session (writing): The SPR Showcase: How to Summarise, Paraphrase and Reference!
In this workshop, you will learn how to use step-by-step methods for writing effective summaries and paraphrases. You will also learn about how to successfully incorporate correctly formatted in-text references into your writing.
Afternoon session (speaking): The Academic Discussion Toolkit
The aim of this workshop is to enable you to express your opinions, have tools to participate more freely in discussions and reduce your anxieties. It will also focus on language to help you clarify your meaning, understand what you are being asked, and buy yourself more thinking time!

Volleyball Session
Turn up and Play
Come along and play volleyball in a fun and friendly environment.
Open to beginners and more experienced players. All equipment will be provided. Please note this is a self-led session.
How to Join:
Booking is easy! Simply register through the Loughborough Sports App (on the Recreational tile). Spots are limited, and booking opens one week before the event, so don’t wait – secure your place early to avoid missing out!

Morning session (writing): Reviewing and Enhancing Written Work
In this workshop, you will look at academic style writing features such as the use of formal language, hedging, and the avoidance of personal pronouns. You will also practice using a variety of methods for checking texts for grammatical accuracy, style and flow.
Afternoon session (speaking): Developing Confidence in Academic Speaking
This workshop focuses on enhancing your confidence when speaking in academic situations and familiarising you with helpful language. You will learn how to effectively report ideas, agree and disagree with the opinion of others, and have the opportunity to put your skills into practise with some hot topics!

BUCS Big Wednesday 2026

BUCS Big Wednesday brings together talent from all over the country, competing to become 2026 BUCS champions. Join us on 24 & 25 March at Loughborough University to watch records be broken, history be made, and to celebrate the very best of university sport.
Tickets are available to purchase for all sports. Please note, a separate ticket is needed for each sport.

It’s a great opportunity to get together, enjoy a traditional British meal, and take part in some light-hearted entertainment - all for just £2.
We have limited spaces so book early to avoid disappointment.
Due to catering requirements, bookings will close on the 17th March at 5pm.

ISE Pickleball Tournament
Ready to smash it this Easter? Join us for the ISE Easter Pickleball Tournament in some fast-paced, fun-filled competition!
Whether you’re a seasoned player or just want to have a blast, this is your chance to win an Easter Trophy and enjoy some delicious chocolatey prizes!
This will be a tournament with short, self-officiated matches. If you have a doubles partner already, you need to make sure all your team members book individually. If you do not have a partner, you will be paired with one on the day.
