We have recently demonstrated feasibility of detecting up to 80 different biomarkers simultaneously with a low cost polymer-based assay recording colour change using a mobile phone camera. Improvements in assay and platform integration of microfluidics and optics is being explored in this project to determine antibiotic resistance quantitatively from a urine sample using pH-sensitive colour change. This will allow finding of the minimum antibiotic dose required to fight bacterial infection.
