Pre-conference field trip

On the afternoon of Monday 2nd September, there will be a pre-conference field trip to Charnwood Forest Geopark which is a short distance away from the BSG conference venue at Loughborough University.

The field trip will explore this important UK landscape, formed over hundreds of millions of years and home to internationally famous Ediacran fossils that are more than 560 million years old. During the field trip, we will examine and discuss how geology shapes the modern landscape as well as consider the critical aspects of geoconservation required to protect these landscapes for future generations.
