Africa Summit - Climate Change and Net-Zero (Afternoon Session)

For the third day of the Africa Summit, we address the strategic theme area of Climate Change and Net-Zero.

We will have a panel discussion titled "Exploring climate resilience", chaired by Associate Pro Vice Chancellor for Climate Change and Net Zero, Professor John Downey.

The Wednesday of the LU-Africa Summit will focus on climate change and net-zero ambitions, with a particular emphasis on the lessons Sub-Saharan Africa offers in resilience and adaptability. This session will present case studies of innovative approaches to climate challenges. These strategies have proven effective in enhancing community resilience and sustainability in resource-limited settings. The discussions will focus on how these adaptable and scalable solutions can be tailored to support the UK’s ambitious net-zero targets. By drawing on SSA’s wealth of experience in navigating environmental challenges with limited resources, participants will explore potential collaborations and pathways for integrating these resilience frameworks into UK climate action, ultimately fostering sustainable, cross-continental innovation.

Lunch will be served before this event between 12:00 noon and 1:00pm.

This event is part of the Africa Summit.

This event is hybrid format, please use the required booking button at the bottom of the page to choose either in-person or online attendance.

If you are not able to attend a seminar live, please do still register as we will email everyone who registered to let them know once the recordings are made available.
