What has been one of the greatest achievements on your placement year?

Winning the ‘Best Mentoring Team of the Year’ award as part of Pfizer's collaboration with Envision. This company partners young people from less advantaged backgrounds with Envision Programme Coordinators and a team of mentors to deliver a social action project that positively changes their school or college community. It's been such a pleasure to mentor a team of students from one of the London schools and help them tackle the issue of food poverty. It was both a challenging and rewarding experience since I had to use my communication skills to hint at some obstacles or other options without explicitly naming them, which helped my mentees evaluate their ideas more effectively. This experience has also broadened my view of the world and brought to my attention some societal issues I was not actively thinking about before.

What were some of the roles and responsibilities involved in your placement?

As part of this placement, I oversaw all digital marketing activity within the Eliquis team in the ‘Internal Medicine Business Unit’.

Some of those activities included:

  • leading the communication with creative agencies
  • coordinating the development of two educational platforms
  • designing/building promotional webpages for healthcare professionals using corporate software
  • creation and approval of branded email campaigns.

In addition, I was also a member of the 'Culture Champions' group, driving the culture change within the business unit, and a 'Joy Champion' within my team - initiating ways to bring joy into day-to-day work life.

My placement year at Pfizer has exceeded my expectations in so many ways! From being trusted with leading crucial business projects to taking part in annual off-site conferences and volunteering with my team - at Pfizer, you never feel like an intern, but as an equally participating employee.
