What has been one of the greatest achievements on your placement year?

My proudest and most notable achievement was meeting with the Chief Finance Officer of Universal Pictures, Adam Moysey, one-to-one, to discuss ways in which Hollywood studios could manoeuvre in South-Asian cinema. I presented to him on Tamil Cinema (the films my family and I grew up with), discussing key names and trends in the industry, and suggesting ways Hollywood films can collaborate with the elements! I also highlighted the issue of colourism in South-Asian film, and stressed the importance Hollywood plays in tackling the problem.

What were some of the roles and responsibilities involved in your placement?

  • Managing my own international marketing campaign: managing budgets, pitching to the Home Entertainment department, communications with key talent.
  • Being the first line of contact for internal teams with marketing-related queries.
  • Raising POs and managing expenses for my line manager and the wider Marketing team.
  • Briefing artwork, trailers amendments and social channel material with creative agencies.
  • Managing team meetings and diary invites.
  • Ad hoc requests from the Marketing team, e.g. creating pitch decks, supplying creative assets to external agents and setting up vendors into the finance system.
  • Brainstorming marketing ideas for other Universal films, including Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

She has consistently shown initiative and smart creative thinking. Nivetha is a valuable member of the Marketing team and has been instrumental in supporting our growth in early planning and creative content.
