Rebecca Coe

Audit - PwC

Rebecca

Rebecca, a BSc Economics student, carried out her placement at PwC (Price Waterhouse Coopers) over the 2022/23 academic year.

What has been one of the greatest achievements on your placement year?

One of my most notable achievements was passing seven of my Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) accounting exams. The ACA is a rigorous professional accounting qualification, and it is one of the most prestigious in the world. I am extremely proud to have passed so many of my exams during my placement, and I am on track to qualify as a chartered accountant within the next two years upon my return to PwC.

What were some of the roles and responsibilities involved in your placement?

As an auditor I reviewed financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. My responsibilities included risk assessments, evaluating internal controls and verifying compliance with accounting standards. I was involved in the planning and execution stages of audits, during which I performed testing procedures, and communicated with clients to obtain information.

Continuous professional development is crucial for staying current with industry trends and standards and this was both a personal and firm-wide understanding. The role was aimed at enhancing transparency, integrity and confidence in the financial reporting of client organisations and I was able to see this happening on a local and global scale.

I would highly recommend a placement year to any Loughborough student. I am truly grateful to PwC for the amazing opportunity to gain an insight into the working world. During the year I have learnt new skills and built new relationships that cannot be taught in a lecture hall.
