Dr Mi Tran joined Loughborough Business School as a Lecturer in International Business, Strategy, and Innovation in April 2024. She previously worked at Nottingham Trent University and the University of Huddersfield, where she was awarded full scholarships for both her master's and PhD.
Mi’s research is highly relevant in the business and society domain. Her focus is on how the institutional environment, governance systems, and the interaction between various actors shape corporate social responsibility and sustainability practices in developing countries. She also delves into the dark side of corporations, examining the mechanisms that underpin corporate irresponsible behaviours.
Mi has experience leading modules and supervising dissertations/work-based projects in international business, strategy and corporate sustainability at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has also successfully undertaken a variety of roles ranging from Research Conference Chair, Year Tutor and School Sustainability Champion. Prior to the commencement of her academic career, she worked with a number of NGOs on diverse social projects in Vietnam and the UK.
Mi's research interests lie within the domain of business and society. Her focus centers on the implementation of CSR practices in developing countries, particularly the challenges associated with such endeavours. Additionally, she delves into the application of corporate responsibility in the context of emerging digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, Mi is intrigued by the darker aspects of corporate behaviour. Her research explores the mechanisms that enable irresponsible corporate practices, aiming to shed light on these concerning phenomena.
