Steve also runs his own publishing company JMD Media Ltd with his wife. In 2022, Steve trekked to Everest Base Camp and has written a book about his experiences which was published in 2023.

Steve also worked at Nottingham Trent University for many years, teaching entrepreneurship and supply chain. He also mentored many master students each year, and was a business mentor for masters students on their annual industry projects.
