Prof Zeynep Aycan is a Professor of International Business and Organisational Behaviour. Aycan received her PhD from Queen’s University, Canada, and conducted post-doctoral studies at McGill University. Her research interests include the impact of culture on HRM practices, leadership and work-life balance.

Aycan has published six books, numerous book chapters and research articles in journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Applied Psychology, Science, Annual Review of Psychology, Annual Review of Organizational Psychology and Organizational Behavior, Leadership Quarterly and Human Relations.

Her book Management and Organizations in Cross-Cultural Context (Sage Inc. 2014) received two awards: Best Leadership Book of the Year Award from Chartered Management Institute, and American Psychological Association Ursula Gielens Book Award.

Other awards include the Academy of Management Caroline Dexter Award, the World Economic Forum Outstanding Young Scientist Award, TUBITAK Science Award (the highest distinction in Turkey), Outstanding Teaching Award (Renmin U. of China), Best Paper Awards (Applied Psychology: An International Review; Global Conference on IHRM). Aycan was recognized as one of the top 2% of scientists globally by Stanford University’s ranking based on career-long data and single recent year (2023).

She is the President-Elect of IACCP (International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology). Other former leadership roles include Graduate Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities; President of the International Society for the Study of Work and Organizational Values (ISSWOV); President of the Turkish Psychological Association, Istanbul Branch.

Aycan was a visiting scholar at Harvard University (USA), Aston University (UK), ESCP-EAP European School of Management (UK), Bordeaux University (France), Tartu School of Management (Estonia), University of Jvaskala (Finland), and Renmin University of China. Before joining Loughborough University, she spent 27 years at Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey, affiliated with the Management and Strategy group and Psychology Department.

She is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and the Association for Psychological Sciences (APS). She is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Global Workforce Strategy, Simon Fraser University.

Aycan has contributed to business organizations as a consultant and trainer, including Coca-Cola, Pfizer, Gloxo-Smith-Kline, Fritolay, LeasePlan, ALCATEL, Bechtel-Enka and Center for Creative Leadership
