Alan is a photographer who has worked within the commercial photographic sector, providing quality photographs for design and advertising agencies, before joining Loughborough University. As well as producing photographs, Alan also provided a fine art black and white printing service for photographers and agencies, and his prints have been used in national campaigns and have been exhibited internationally.

Alan’s current main area of interest is the use of historical photographic processes in contemporary image-making. The use of noble metals with state-of-the art digital processes is offering new ways of making images. This research is done with colleagues within the school, in cross-departmental collaborations, and with outside consultants.
