Background

Prabhu is currently a Research Associate at the Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology (CREST), Loughborough University, UK. He received his PhD degree (2019) in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Exeter, UK. He was awarded MSc (2014) and BSc (2012) in Physics from Bharathiar University, India.

Prior to joining Loughborough University, Prabhu was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Exeter (February 2021- December 2022), involved in EPSRC-EUED, Advanced building façade design and ERDF-ESIF, Energy Independent Farming projects. After his PhD, Prabhu worked as an Energy Modelling Analyst at Pure World Energy Ltd, UK, where he developed site-specific CHP energy and financial models using electric and gas data gathered from site visits and performed carbon emission calculations using all the energy data from the existing fleet to develop generation forecast models.

Prabhu’s current work at CREST focuses on

  • Developing and testing new edge seal materials, and producing vacuum glazing prototypes, integrating with switchable elements, and experimentally characterise their performance
  • Undertaking experimental work, to build and characterise transpired inverted absorber CPCs based novel prototype façade components
  • Developing façade system component model, validation, and parametric analysis
  • Design and characterisation of small-scale thermochemical energy storage systems
