As Olympic Games 2024 host city Paris ramps up for the biggest sporting spectacle on earth, all eyes will undoubtedly be on those vying for podium places.

Away from the all-important medal moments and sporting achievements, stakeholders will be putting robust plans in place to ensure that France’s capital can deliver a safe and secure championships for all involved.

In a high-risk city-wide event of such magnitude, Loughborough University’s Dr Verity Postlethwaite delves into the possible threats and how organisers will be mitigating any unwanted external challenges.

Dr Postlethwaite is a lead researcher on the Spirit of 2012 and Counsel project that is currently exploring the potential for a UK Capital of Sport.
