Join University Chaplaincy as we host this new event in collaboration with LSU Sikh Society and Sikh colleagues.

A Sikh Langar refers to the community kitchen found in every Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship) where free vegetarian and vegan meals are prepared and served to everyone regardless of religion, gender, background or social status. Langar draws on the concept of seva, which in Sikhism means 'selfless service' which is one of the core principles of the Sikh faith.

On Tuesday 5 May, we invite staff and students to the very first Langar held on campus in the EHB Atrium. Guests will be seated on the floor as a symbol of equality (seating will be available for guests who require this). All guests will be served a hot meal.

Guests will have the opportunity to hear more about the Sikh faith through guest speakers and information stalls. Everyone will have the opportunity to contribute to our chosen charity, Midlands Langar Seva Society, who provide thousands of free meals for the homeless each year.
