Medline

MEDLINE is the U.S. National Library of Medicine® (NLM) bibliographic database containing references to journal articles in life sciences with a concentration on biomedicine. MEDLINE contains comprehensive coverage of information on medicine, nursing, clinical psychology, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the NLM there is a US bias in the resources offered.

PubMed

A free resource containing references to literature in areas such as biosciences, medicine, health and life sciences, chemical sciences and bioengineering. Some overlap with the MEDLINE database.

Embase

Embase is a biomedical database containing more than 30 million records. It contains bibliographic records with citations, abstracts and indexing derived from more than 8,500 biomedical articles in peer reviewed journals, and is especially strong in its coverage of drug and pharmaceutical research. Indexing using Elsevier's Life Science thesaurus and Emtree makes retrieval of information straightforward. Embase is a perfect complement to MedLine.

BioMed Central

BioMed Central (BMC) is a collection of over 300 peer-reviewed journals, sharing discoveries from research communities in science, technology, engineering and medicine. BMC offers a wide portfolio of subject fields on a single open access platform.

Scopus

Scopus is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: academic journals, books and conference proceedings. Scopus is a comprehensive resource covering chemistry, physics, mathematics and engineering; life and health sciences; social sciences, psychology, business and economics; arts and humanities and biological and environmental sciences. It also includes the Geobase database.

Covers a wide variety of disciplines including engineering, sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities. Search features include cited reference searching allowing you to discover who has referenced a particular work since it was published.

'CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform'

Covers all areas of chemistry as well as biology, medicine, engineering, material science and more.
