Welcome to Butler Court
Located in East Park, near the School of Design and Creative Arts and our rugby pitches. Butler Court is a very tight knit community where morale is high and there is a great social life. Everyone knows everyone! Butler Courts hosts so many events planned by the Social, Welfare, Rag representatives and more. The hall is named after Sir Clifford Butler, Vice-Chancellor of the University from 1975-1985.

MUST LIVE IN HALLS - The hall chair runs weekly committee meeting. They oversee all areas of committee including delegating tasks and work in partnership with each section. They should network with the rest of the university for the benefit of the hall, attend Hall Student Federation meetings (including meetings with the university Senior Leadership Board) and work alongside the Warden in operations regarding the hall. They will be responsible for Writing their Hall Portfolio for the Hall of the Year Award.
Ellijah Brailsford
Living in Butler has been the best aspect of my University experience and becoming the Welfare rep has taught me invaluable lessons about organisation and teamwork. I am eager to put these skills to use by becoming the hall chair and guide the new committee to build on the efforts of past committees to create a better hall experience. As chair I would strive to bring the different parts of the hall together through collaborations across different sections such as more RAG IMS events, sustainable welfare events and having more societies collaborate on social events. This will create a tighter community in Butler by combining a broader selection of interests into different events. I also aim to listen to the hall and use polls to gain a better understanding of what events the residents want to see and what they actually enjoy doing in the hall. I aim to change the perceptions of Butler from being the quiet hall into the strongest community with something for everybody. Whether it’s more PS5 games, upgrading the common room or more punch parties, I am determined to listen to Butler Court and act to make it the best hall on campus.

Areen Saleh
Hi my name is Areen and I think I should be your next Action Rep. As Action Rep, I will make sure to promote meaningful volunteering opportunities within Butler Hall and encourage student engagement in local and wider community initiatives. For instance helping out in local schools, farms and organising events to raise money for charity. I believe that i’m reliable and will ensure I attend Action Hall Representative meetings, recruit and support hall volunteers, and work closely with Media Reps to effectively publicise Action events. My aim is to make getting involved in volunteering and charity work accessible, inclusive, and rewarding for everyone in Butler Hall.
AAIR Representative
Supports the engagement and inclusion of alumni, affiliate, international, and returning students within the Hall community. Key responsibilities include: organising events and initiatives tailored to AAIR members; promote inclusivity and integration within the Hall; providing support and signposting relevant University and LSU services; act as a liaison between AAIR students and the Hall Committee; attend relevant meetings such as the AAIR Rep Support Community to ensure AAIR students’ voices are heard.
Julia Pires Nogueira Valente
As a Brazilian international student, Butler’s been my home away from home for almost two years, and I’ve learnt a lot about adjusting to UK uni life. Of course, I’ve dealt with ups and downs, especially homesickness. But because I understand these challenges, I don’t want that experience to go to waste. It’d be an honour to help other international, returning, and affiliate students settle in, and find the same sense of belonging I have. I’m determined to support every student, and will always work towards everyone at Butler being able to feel seen and heard, regardless of their background.
If elected, I'll plan events to unite our accommodation even more. This would include “Back to Butler” events during move-in week ensuring we kickstart the Butler family vibe, as well as cultural exchange nights featuring games, local cuisine, and music from different countries. These events would allow international residents to feel closer to home while giving UK students the opportunity to learn more about life abroad. Additionally, I plan to create an "AIR Survival guide workshop" for newcomers in collaboration with other committee members, providing students with practical guidance on living, studying, and enjoying university.
As always, UP THE BUT!
