Lauren Russell

what you will do if successful in the election. Be realistic with your plans, as you will likely still be subject to similar finances and rules that the existing committee have followed.
I am running for Chair of our hall because I want to help make it a place where everyone feels welcome and supported. University life should be about more than just studying – it should also be fun, social, and fulfilling, and I want to help make that happen for everyone in our hall.

If elected, I will work to organise inclusive and enjoyable events that bring people together, from relaxed social nights to bigger hall-wide activities. I want to create opportunities for everyone to get involved, make friends, and feel part of a strong community, no matter their background or interests.

I will also make sure students’ voices are heard by listening to concerns, representing your views, and working with hall staff to improve our living experience. My aim is to help create a supportive environment where everyone feels happy, comfortable, and able to thrive.

Together, we can make our hall the best possible place to live. UTRR UTJP

Sports Secretary

(2 positions available) Oversees Hall sports participation and ensures representation in Intramural Sports (IMS) competitions. Key duties include maintaining Hall sporting equipment, attending Sport Secretary meetings and staying informed on sporting matters, organising fair trials and practices for IMS teams, selecting team captains and supporting team selections, promoting sports participation at all levels, from IMS to recreational activities, submitting IMS fixture results on time, and coordinating with Media Representatives for fixture coverage.

Sullivan Berry

If successful I will promote IMS to the hall to a greater extent through social media and on the WhatsApp community. This will attract more people to minimise the walkovers we give and boost Rigg-Rut in the IMS standings. I would also like to try and organise free training sessions for more sports by using the allocated budget rather than making players pay. IMS is the one of the best things I’ve done at uni, and I’d love to help others get involved.

Lucy Scott

If I was chosen for sports sec I would want to promote our ODE events more to avoid the amount of walkovers we give in the coming months and give us a better chance in the leagues. I personally love playing IMS, particularly it's social aspect and would like to give everyone the same opportunity to play!!

Abdulrahman Mazi

I am a very passionate sports enthusiast. Sports is more than just a lifestyle for me, it's my future. As I strive to become a leader in the sports industry, not only do I see this role as an exciting opportunity to build my expertise, but I also see it as a way to run John Phillips' sports department with the high standards it deserves. I will treat our IMS teams as professional franchises , staying committed to submitting results, fixtures , and other important information on time. I aim to work our media reps to help build hall spirit through consistent reels and posts, ensuring that our teams have all the support they need to excel. As well as operating with a team-first mindset, to ensure our hall never misses any opportunities. I understand the importance of fair and transparent trials and believe my background in sports will assist in ensuring all the expectations are met . Most importantly, I believe in inclusivity and providing an opportunity for everyone to participate in sports from recreational to IMS.

Getting settled in

Jack Bundy

I am running for the position of hall chair because I want to create a greater sense of community in our hall. My key aim is to ensure that everyone, no matter the flat or block, feels included in hall events and arrangements. I also aim to be transparent and welcoming of different views — if you have a problem in the hall, or an idea to improve it, I want to ensure your voice is heard and acted on.

If you elect me, I will continue the helpful and approachable attitude of the current hall chair and ensure everything is managed responsibly. I believe I will be a reliable leader and make sure the budget is spent on things that benefit everyone, allowing all to experience university life to its fullest.

Furthermore, I will ensure announcements are clear and timely, making everyone's lives easier. I will also act as a key contact point for questions and ensure they are answered promptly.

Finally, I will work effectively with other committee members to ensure their duties are fulfilled and create an environment where constructive criticism is valued.

Ensure RR & JP reach their full potential and vote for Jack as hall chair.
