Loughborough Sport and Loughborough University have partnered with sustainable bottle producers, Bottle Up.

The initial 12-month partnership will see Bottle Up become Loughborough Sport’s official sustainable bottle provider.

The company’s bottles will be distributed to all athletes on performance programmes, as well as athletic union members, with the aim of ensuring Loughborough maintains its strong stance on improving sustainability and reducing the use of single-use plastics.

The bottles, which are made from sugar cane, will also be sold in retail outlets across campus. These will come filled with water, with the reusable bottle having a lifespan of up to three years.

Elliot Brown, Loughborough University’s Sustainability Manager, said: “Sustainability is at the core of our values, and our partnership with Bottle Up exemplifies this commitment.

“By adopting its innovative, eco-friendly bottled solutions, we are actively reducing our collective environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices within our sports community and beyond.

“This collaboration is a significant step forward in our journey towards a greener, more sustainable future. We are proud to support our athletes with sustainable choices that inspire positive change across campus.”

Andrew Eversden, founder of Bottle Up added: “We are thrilled to partner with Loughborough University and Loughborough Sport. Our bottles are designed to provide a sustainable alternative to single-use plastics, and we are excited to support Loughborough’s athletes and wider student community in their journey towards a greener future.”
