The highly anticipated event will see the country’s top university teams battle for Championship, Trophy and Vase titles across 16 sports, with 60 fixtures and 120 teams all vying for glory.
A standout moment in the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) calendar, BUCS Big Wednesday showcases the very best of student sport, bringing together elite university athletes, coaches, and performance staff from across the UK.
This marks the third year that Loughborough has been chosen to host BUCS Big Wednesday, reinforcing the University’s status as a leading hub for university sport.
With Championship, Trophy and Vase finals taking place across multiple venues on campus, spectators will have the chance to witness thrilling matchups as teams compete for the ultimate prize in university sport.
Tickets are on sale now via the BUCS website. Please note, a separate ticket is required for each sport.
As a significant sports event with over 2,000 competitors and 2,500 spectators, campus users should be aware of the following information. You may wish to consider alternative methods of travel on Wednesday 25 March particularly, for example car sharing, cycling to work or using public transport.
Car park and road closures
Tuesday 24 March – (American Football competition only on the 1st XV Rugby Pitch)
Car park closures:
- Car Park 12 – behind Sir David Wallace Sports Hall for spectator provisions
- Hockey/Elite Athlete Centre – closed for catering village
Car parks with reduced access:
- Car Park 9
- Car Park 18
American Football officials and team staff will be directed to:
- Car Park 9
Road closures:
- Towers Way, from the main University gatehouse to the corner of NCSEM (around the 1st XV Rugby Pitch). Controlled access will be permitted to the disabled parking bays and for deliveries until 9.30am when there will be a hard road closure in place.
Wednesday 25 March
Car park closures:
- Hockey/Elite Athlete Centre – closed for catering village
- Brockington/Schofield – closed for athlete coaches
- Car Park 12 – behind Sir David Wallace Sports Hall for spectator provisions
- Car Park 15 – behind Rutland for officials/team staff (access with event permit only)
- Tennis and Squash Centre for officials/team staff (access with event permit only)
Car parks with reduced access:
- Car Parks 8 and 15 (behind Hazlerigg and Rutland)
- Car Park 9
- Holywell Fitness Centre
- Swimming Pool
- Tennis Centre
Spectators will be directed to park in the following car parks:
- Car Park 1 (multi-storey)
- Holywell Conference Centre Car Park (Sir Dennis Rooke)
Road closures:
- Towers Way, from the main University gatehouse to the corner of NCSEM (around the 1st XV Rugby Pitch). Controlled access will be permitted to the disabled parking bays and for deliveries until 9am when there will be a hard road closure in place.
