Optimising exercise performance

"As a passionate and active researcher in the field of sport and exercise nutrition, I am fascinated about the use of supplements and novel technologies to enhance exercise performance.

"My research interests broadly relate to the application of nutrition in the performance, recovery or health of an athlete. Findings from my research are at the heart of the Sport and Exercise Nutrition module that I deliver.

"My research into dietary nitrate supplementation looks at whether this nutritional addition can enhance performance and speed muscle deoxyhaemoglobin kinetics during an athlete's end-sprint after prolonged moderate-intensity exercise. This enables me to provide insight into how research can inform best practice for specific athletes.

"As my research is predominantly lab based, students can be confident that they are learning their Laboratory Techniques in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition from an expert in the field.

"This programme will equip you for future careers in research, PhD studies, applied sports physiology/nutrition, exercise physiology and sport nutrition support, and teaching in higher education."

Impact of research on your learning

"The opportunity to benefit from world-leading research alongside excellent facilities makes this programme so exciting. Most importantly, you will be learning and gaining insights from the cutting-edge research of our international academic staff throughout your time at the University.

"We hope our programme will give you the knowledge and inspiration you need to succeed."
