Compulsory modules
Quantitative Research (15 credits)
The aim of this module is for the student to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, interpret, and conduct quantitative research appropriate for their field and level of study.
Sport and Exercise Nutrition (30 credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to develop knowledge and understanding of the metabolic demands of sport and exercise and how performance and/or training responses can be optimised through nutrition.
Physiology of Sport and Exercise (30 credits)
The aims of this module are for students to develop in depth knowledge and understanding of the physiological basis of exercise and sporting performance and the different factors that influence this across different athletes and sports.
Compulsory modules
Research Project in Sport, Health and Rehabilitation (60 credits)
The aim of this module is for students to design, conduct and report on an original research study of an aspect of their MSc programme.
Sport and Exercise Nutrition (30 credits)
The aims of this module are to enable students to develop knowledge and understanding of the metabolic demands of sport and exercise and how performance and/or training responses can be optimised through nutrition.
Laboratory Techniques in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition (30 credits)
The aims of this module are for students to develop knowledge and competency in a range of research techniques relevant to the study of sport and exercise physiology/nutrition to enable them to undertake laboratory-based research in these areas.
Optional modules
Applied Sport and Exercise Nutrition (15 credits)
The aims of this module are for students to develop a detailed understanding of the role of the nutritionist within sport and exercise and to develop a range of relevant practical skills required for applied sport and exercise practice.
Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology (15 credits)
The aims of this module are for students to develop an understanding of current research in the field of physiology of exercise and sport, and its application to the performance, recovery or health of the athlete, as well as of the framework within which the exercise physiologist operates within a sport-science or clinical setting.
