Innovation Driven Enterprise Academy
The opportunity for you to bring your business idea to life.
Each year students from our School have the opportunity to take part in the Innovation Driven Enterprise Academy (IDEA) – an extra-curricular summer camp for students from engineering and business disciplines to work together, combining their skills to create sustainable startup business ideas.
Innovation and entrepreneurship are lauded as the key to commercial success. Our engineering and business students are taught the importance of both but rarely do the two overlap in a practical way during their studies.
While engineering students excel at creativity and developing tangible innovations, they often lack business training to allow those products to become commercially viable. Similarly, business and economics students are taught the importance of being technically innovative without much by way of applying this abstract learning to developing real new products.
Our inspiring entrepreneurs
George - BikeStow
George developed BikeStow's second product whilst studying Product Design Engineering
The Loughborough Enterprise Network helped me to develop my company's second product; a freestanding vertical bike stand. Becoming a part of the network seemed like the perfect opportunity to turn my idea into a reality, which is exactly what it did!
Gurupma - G Team Academy
Gurupma launched his business during the second year of his Mechanical Engineering degree
One of the most important factors for me when setting up my business was meeting other people through the Enterprise Network, as it can be quite daunting! It was great to work with and hear from other students on the same journey as I was.
