Library and IT services

The Pilkington Library provides a variety of services to support you throughout your academic journey. It offers different learning environments, access to first-rate information resources as well as study and research skills development.

The Library stretches across four storeys, making it the largest open access study space on campus.

It houses an extensive collection of books, journals, specialist databases and online resources as well as 1,300 study spaces, 250 desktop computers, an in-house PC clinic and a cafeteria. During key revision and exam periods, it switches up to 24/7 opening hours.

Information and Enquiry Service

The Information and Enquiry Service team can help you with all kinds of queries. From booking a study room, to IT or borrowing issues and sourcing vital information, our team are on hand seven days a week to offer useful tips and guidance.

Academic Librarians

Our fantastic team of Academic Librarians have subject area expertise and can assist with all kinds of queries specifically relating to your degree – like making the most of specialist online search tools or databases; referencing, citation and using bibliographic software; even how to get your work published.

Subject Guides

Subject Guides are a great starting point for finding information about a specific subject area. They provide quick access to key resources such as journals, articles and books that can help your studies. They also provide details of your designated Academic Librarian who has carefully selected all of these resources for you.

PC Clinic

Should you have problems with your device, make an appointment with the PC Clinic. They can help with a variety of technical issues including software installation, accessing files on OneDrive, and connecting to the campus networks and printers.

Microsoft Office

If you choose to study at Loughborough, you'll have free access to the latest Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. By using OneDrive you'll also be able to access your work through automatic device syncing, whether you are on your own device or in one of our IT labs. 

Study spaces

Whether you want to work on your own or in a group, you can choose from a variety of locations. The Library provides quiet and silent zones for individual study, facilities that are ideal for group work as well as access to computers. There are other learning spaces across campus, including in the West Park Teaching Hub, Haslegrave, Schofield and the Edward Herbert Building.
