Lifesavers

It isn’t only doctors who save lives. Chemists work on breakthrough medicines and vaccines, while physicists, designers and computer scientists lead the way on life-saving new technologies and inventions.

Do you care deeply about the health and wellbeing of others? Do you want to make a real difference in the world? Students from all kinds of disciplines have been able to apply their knowledge to real life-saving projects – some even while completing their degrees!

What subject is right for you?

If you think you'd like to work as a scientist instrumental in the development of new life-saving drugs, you should investigate our courses in Chemistry and Biosciences. Increasingly, scientists work across disciplines to develop solutions to health and environmental challenges - in which case you might consider combining STEM disciplines with a degree in Natural Sciences.

Designers work on new or improved products that can prevent injuries and deaths. Mathematicians and Computer Scientists can use mathematical modelling skills and computer applications to predict and prevent disasters. Physics, too, is at the heart of the most transformational technological breakthroughs happening today, and, at Loughborough, some of our Physicists are working on technologies that can save lives.

Ultimately, all our courses aim to equip you with skills and knowledge that enable you to make a difference - no matter what you path you decide to follow.
