I would encourage students wanting to study this course to fully engage with the content by developing their knowledge further and completing the additional reading, as well as always asking any questions they have surrounding the course.

This, in addition to gaining as much practical experience as possible, would help advise them as to which branch of the course they may be most interested in or could see themselves doing in the future.
