One piece of advice I would offer is to go out and try as many things as you can. Sign up for everything, go to all the talks you may have an interest in and be a sponge. Soak up as much information as you can that will help you on your journey through Loughborough. But also maintain a good social life outside of studies as it can be a nice way to relax if you ever feel like you’re burning out. I would also say that it’s good to make friends on your course as it will make your life ten times easier when going to lectures or revising.
I think my module ‘Skills for Study and Placement’ has been very beneficial for me personally as the lecturer is someone who has gone through what we as students are going through, and she understands what is needed to boost your employability. I feel the module has made me better understand the importance of having a good CV and looking for placements early.
I’m still early in my university life but I’m starting to find the areas within the degree that I enjoy the most, such as marketing, sales and accounting. I will look to strengthen these areas as much as possible over the rest of my course to hopefully secure a graduate job in one of these areas in the future.
